
🥔 Ingredients:
- 6 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp oil or lard
- 1 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- 1 tomato, chopped (or 2 tbsp canned)
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
- 1 sausage (Hungarian kolbász or smoked sausage), sliced (optional)
- 2–3 cups water or broth

🍲 Instructions:
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft and slightly golden.
- Remove from heat, stir in paprika (to avoid burning).
- Add garlic, tomato, and green pepper. Stir well.
- Add potatoes and sausage (if using). Mix to coat everything in paprika.
- Pour in enough water or broth to just cover the potatoes.
- Season with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 25–30 minutes until potatoes are tender.
- Stir occasionally and adjust seasoning if needed.

- Serve hot with fresh bread or pickles.
- It should be slightly soupy, not dry.
