
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt for the biscuits.
3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Stir in buttermilk just until a soft dough forms.
5. Turn dough onto a floured surface and gently pat to about 1-inch thickness.
6. Cut biscuits using a round cutter and place on a baking sheet.
7. Bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown.
8. While biscuits bake, cook sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked.
9. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir for 1–2 minutes.
10. Slowly whisk in milk to avoid lumps.
11. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thick and creamy.
12. Season with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if desired.
13. Split warm biscuits and generously spoon sausage gravy over the top.
14. Serve immediately while hot and comforting.
