Ingredients

For the Meat Filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (150g) mixed vegetables (frozen or fresh – peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) beef or chicken broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme or oregano
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk or heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup (50g) shredded cheddar or mozzarella (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 cup (50g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or parmesan)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
