Hungarian Meatloaf🇭🇺.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line with parchment.
  2. Make meat mixture
    • In a bowl, combine ground meat, soaked breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, raw egg, paprika, marjoram, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Assemble loaf
    • Spread half the meat mixture into the loaf pan.
    • Lay the hard-boiled eggs in a row down the center.
    • Cover with remaining meat mixture, sealing the eggs inside. Smooth the top.
  4. Bake
    • Brush top with a little oil or melted butter.
    • Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Serve
    • Cool slightly, then slice so that each portion shows the beautiful egg cross-section.
    • Often served with potatoes, pickles, or a light salad.

👉 Some Hungarian families also cover the meatloaf with smoky bacon strips before baking for extra richness.

Would you like me to also share the mini Fasírt (meatball/patty) version that Hungarians often fry up for picnics and quick meals?
