Hungarian Creamy Pork Paprikás Recipe

Ingredients

  • 600 g pork (shoulder or loin, sliced)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp oil or lard
  • 1½ tbsp Hungarian paprika
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 200 ml water or broth
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté chopped onion until soft.
  2. Add garlic and paprika, stir quickly (do not burn paprika).
  3. Add pork pieces and cook until lightly browned.
  4. Add water or broth, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cover and simmer 30–40 minutes until meat is tender.
  6. Mix sour cream with flour, then add to the pan.
  7. Cook 5–10 minutes until sauce becomes creamy.

Serve with noodles, rice, or dumplings (nokedli).
