Classic Baked Lasagna Recipe 🍅🧀
This rich and hearty baked lasagna is the ultimate comfort food with layers of pasta, meaty sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey melted cheese.
Ingredients
For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1/2 lb (225g) ground pork or Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups (480ml) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14 oz / 400g) diced tomatoes
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water (if needed for sauce consistency)
For the Ricotta Mixture:
- 1 cup (250g) ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Lasagna Layers:
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions
- 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
