
🧾 Ingredients:
For the dough (or use store-bought strudel/phyllo):
- 300 g all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 120 ml warm water
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 pinch salt
For the filling:
- 250 g ground poppy seeds
- 120 g sugar
- 200 ml milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Zest of 1 lemon
For the brown butter:
- 120 g butter
For finishing:
- Powdered sugar

👩🍳 Instructions:
- Prepare dough (if homemade):
Mix flour, salt, egg, water, and oil. - Knead until smooth and elastic.
- Cover and let rest for at least 30–45 minutes.
- Make filling:
Heat milk with sugar until dissolved. - Mix with ground poppy seeds, vanilla, and lemon zest.
- Let cool.
- Brown the butter:
Melt butter over medium heat until golden and nutty. Set aside.
- Stretch dough:
Roll out dough, then gently stretch it thin (almost transparent) on a floured cloth. - Brush with brown butter.
- Add filling & roll:
Spread filling evenly. - Roll tightly using the cloth to help shape.
- Bake:
Place on a lined tray and brush with more brown butter.
🔥 Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden and crisp.
