
Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside — Lángos is one of the most famous street foods of Hungary. Traditionally topped with garlic, sour cream, and shredded cheese, it’s pure comfort food!
📝 Ingredients
- 2¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ¾ cup warm milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Oil for frying
Classic Toppings:
- 2 cloves garlic (crushed, mixed with a little water)
- ½–1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Hungarian cheese
👩🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Activate Yeast
In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2️⃣ Make the Dough
Add flour, salt, and oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
Knead for about 5–8 minutes until smooth.
3️⃣ Let Rise
Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
4️⃣ Shape
Divide into 4–6 balls. Flatten each into a round disc about ½ inch thick.
5️⃣ Fry
Heat oil in a deep pan (about 350°F / 175°C).
Fry each piece 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
6️⃣ Top & Serve
Rub with garlic water, spread sour cream, and sprinkle generously with cheese.
Serve immediately while hot.
