🇭🇺 Hungarian Lajcsi Szelet (Lajcsi Slice)

📝 Ingredients

Cake Base:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) oil
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
  • 1 1/2 cups (180 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder

Filling:

  • 1 cup (200 g) sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) butter
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup (120 g) dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons butter

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cake Batter
    Beat eggs with sugar until light and fluffy.
    Add oil and milk, mix well.
    Fold in sifted flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder gently.
  3. Bake
    Pour into pan and bake 20–25 min. Cool completely.
  4. Prepare Filling
    Heat butter, sugar, cocoa, and milk until smooth. Spread over cooled cake.
  5. Chocolate Topping
    Melt chocolate with butter and pour over filling.
  6. Chill & Slice
    Refrigerate 1–2 hours. Cut into squares before serving.
