🥩 Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef (chuck or stewing beef), cut into cubes
  • 2 large onions, finely chopped
  • 2–3 tbsp lard (or oil)
  • 2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tsp hot paprika (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tomato, chopped (or 1 tbsp tomato paste)
  • 1 green pepper, chopped (optional but traditional)
  • 1 tsp ground caraway seeds (optional)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • 1–1½ cups water or broth
