🇭🇺 Hungarian Meatballs (Fasírt)

Fasírt are a classic Hungarian comfort food made from seasoned ground meat, onion, garlic, and spices, then shaped and fried until crispy on the outside and soft inside. They are often served with potatoes, pickles, or fresh salads.

  • 500 g ground pork (or pork + beef mix)
  • 1 medium onion, finely grated or very finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 2–3 slices of stale bread (or 1 cup breadcrumbs)
  • 100 ml milk (for soaking bread)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika (important for Hungarian flavor 🇭🇺)
  • 1 tsp dried marjoram (optional but traditional)
  • Oil for frying
