Stuffed Cabbage Rolls with Fish Recipe (Ponttyal töltött káposzta)

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1.5 lbs (700 g) freshwater fish (carp or catfish), finely minced
  • 1 cup (200 g) cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika (sweet or smoked)
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Wrap:

  • 1 large head of cabbage (leaves separated and softened in boiling water)

For the Sauce:

  • 2 cups (500 ml) tomato puree
  • 1 cup (250 ml) fish stock or water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp Hungarian paprika
  • 1/2 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup sour cream for garnish
