
🇭🇺 Pogácsa (Hungarian Cheese Biscuits)
🧾 Ingredients:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 g butter or margarine (softened)
- 200 g sour cream
- 1 egg
- 7 g dry yeast (or 20 g fresh yeast)
- 100 ml milk (lukewarm)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1–1½ tsp salt
- 150 g grated cheese (plus extra for topping)

👩🍳 Instructions:
- Activate yeast:
Mix yeast with lukewarm milk and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Make the dough:
In a bowl, combine flour and salt. - Add butter, sour cream, egg, grated cheese, and yeast mixture.
- Knead into a soft, slightly sticky dough.
- Rest:
Cover and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled.
- Shape:
Roll out dough to about 2 cm thick. - Score the top in a crisscross pattern.
- Cut out small rounds using a cutter or glass.
Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with extra cheese.
Prepare for baking:
Place on a lined baking tray.
