Kürtőskalács sütőben (Chimney Cake in Oven)

The traditional Kürtőskalács is usually made over charcoal, but you can easily bake it in a home oven with a simple mold or DIY foil roller. It becomes crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and coated in caramelized sugar.


Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 7 g dry yeast (or 25 g fresh yeast)
  • 250 ml warm milk
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 60 g melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt

For coating

  • 100 g melted butter
  • 150 g sugar
  • Optional: cinnamon, cocoa, crushed nuts, coconut

Equipment Tip

  • Use a metal rolling pin, empty glass bottle wrapped in foil, or a chimney cake mold.
