Sweet Hungarian Style
- 500 g flour
- 25 g fresh yeast or 7 g dry yeast
- 250 ml warm milk
- 80 g sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 80 g melted butter
- Pinch of salt
Filling:
- 400 g cottage cheese (túró)
- 1 egg yolk
- 2–3 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- Lemon zest (optional)
- 2–3 tbsp semolina or breadcrumbs (optional)
Instructions:
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with a little sugar.
- Mix flour, sugar, salt, egg yolks, butter, and yeast mixture into a soft dough.
- Let rise for about 1 hour.
- Mix filling ingredients until creamy.
- Roll out dough and cut into squares.
- Place filling in the center and fold into small “bags” (batyu).
- Let rest for 15–20 minutes.
- Bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes until golden.
- Optional: dust with powdered sugar before serving.
