Hungarian Turo Rudi (home made) 🇭🇺

🔥 INSTRUCTIONS

1. Prep cottage cheese

  • Mash or blend cottage cheese until VERY smooth
(traditional Túró Rudi has ultra smooth texture)

Optional: Push through a fine sieve for extra smoothness.

2. Mix filling

To the cottage cheese add:

  • powdered sugar
  • vanilla
  • lemon zest
  • butter

If mixture is too soft, add:

  • 1–2 tbsp semolina or milk powder

Mix until creamy and spreadable.

Taste and adjust sweetness.

3. Shape bars

  • Line a tray with parchment
  • With slightly damp hands, form small bars or logs
(classic size: like mini candy bars)

Freeze 30–45 minutes to firm.

4. Prepare chocolate coating

Melt chocolate + coconut oil in microwave or double boiler
Stir until silky and smooth.

5. Dip

  • Remove bars from freezer
  • Dip into melted chocolate using fork
  • Let excess drip off
  • Place on parchment

If chocolate thickens, warm again.

6. Chill

Refrigerate 1–2 hours until set.

🤤 RESULT:

  • Tangy-sweet creamy filling
  • Smooth chocolate shell
  • Soft bite, not hard
  • Incredibly close to the original Túró Rudi!

  • Freeze up to 2 months
  • Best eaten slightly chilled
