Hungarian Tart (Hungarian Fruit Tart)

Ingredients:

For the crust:

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 150 g butter (cold, cubed)
  • 80 g sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2–3 tbsp cold water
  • Pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 300 g fruit jam (apricot, plum, or berry)
  • 200 g ground walnuts (optional)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Rub in butter until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  4. Add egg yolk and cold water, then knead into a smooth dough.
  5. Chill the dough for 20–30 minutes.
  6. Roll out the dough and press it into a tart pan.
  7. Spread jam evenly over the crust.
  8. Mix walnuts with sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle over the jam if using.
  9. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden.
  10. Let cool before slicing.
