
🇭🇺 Hungarian Poppy Seed & Walnut Beigli
Ingredients (Dough):
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup butter (softened)
- 2 egg yolks
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ cup warm milk
- 2 ¼ tsp dry yeast
- Pinch of salt
Poppy Seed Filling:
- 1 cup ground poppy seeds
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
Walnut Filling:
- 1 cup ground walnuts
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions:
- Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let foam 5–10 minutes.
- Add flour, butter, egg yolks, and salt. Knead into smooth dough.
- Divide dough into 2 portions and let rest 30 minutes.
- Cook each filling separately: combine ingredients in a saucepan and heat until thick. Let cool.
- Roll each dough piece into a rectangle.
- Spread filling evenly, then roll tightly like a log.
- Place on baking tray, brush with egg wash.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden.
- Cool before slicing.
