Hungarian Mushroom Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tsp dried dill
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt & black pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a pot, sauté onion until soft. Add garlic.
  2. Add mushrooms and cook until they release their juices.
  3. Stir in paprika, dill, and soy sauce.
  4. Pour in broth, simmer 10–15 minutes.
  5. Add milk and heat gently.
  6. Mix sour cream with flour, stir into soup.
  7. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  8. Add lemon juice, salt, and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve warm.
