Hungarian Meatballs (Fasírt)

Ingredients:

  • 500 g ground beef or pork (or mix)
  • 1 small onion, finely grated or finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or water
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add milk or water and mix until you get a soft but shapeable mixture.
  3. Form into small balls or slightly flattened patties.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Fry the meatballs until golden brown and fully cooked, about 6–10 minutes depending on size.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
