Hungarian Layered Potatoes Casserole (Rakott Krumpli)

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 5 eggs, hard-boiled
  • 250 g smoked sausage, sliced
  • 300 g sour cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Peel the potatoes and boil them until just tender. Let cool slightly, then slice.
  2. Slice the hard-boiled eggs and sausage.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  4. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  5. Arrange a layer of potatoes in the dish.
  6. Add a layer of sliced eggs and sausage.
  7. Spread a portion of the sour cream over the layer.
  8. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with potatoes and sour cream on top.
  9. Season each layer lightly with salt and black pepper.
  10. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
  11. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
