📝 Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g unsalted butter (softened)
  • 100 g cream cheese (softened)
  • Pinch of salt

For the Filling:

  • 200 g finely ground walnuts
  • 100 g sugar
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon

For Coating:

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add flour and salt, mix to form a soft dough.
  3. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight).

2. Make the Filling

  1. Heat milk and sugar in a saucepan.
  2. Stir in ground walnuts, vanilla, and lemon zest.
  3. Cook until thick, then let cool completely.

3. Shape the Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about 3 mm thickness.
  3. Cut into small squares (about 5×5 cm).
  4. Place a small amount of filling on each square.
  5. Roll or shape into crescents (kifli shape).

4. Bake

  • Place on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes until lightly golden.

5. Finish

  • While still warm, dust generously with powdered sugar.
