
🇭🇺 Hungarian Chimney Cake (Kürtőskalács)
🧾 Ingredients:
Dough:
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 1 packet dry yeast (7 g) or 25 g fresh yeast
- 250 ml warm milk
- 80 g sugar
- 1 egg
- 80 g melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
For coating:
- 100 g melted butter
- 100 g sugar (or cinnamon sugar mix, chopped nuts, cocoa, etc.)

👩🍳 Instructions:
- Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast with 1 tsp sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, egg, vanilla, melted butter, and the activated yeast mixture.
- Knead into a soft, smooth dough (about 8–10 minutes). Cover and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and cut into long strips.
- Wrap the strips around a greased rolling pin or chimney cake mold, slightly overlapping.
- Brush with melted butter and roll in sugar.
- Bake at 180°C (350°F), rotating often, until golden brown and crispy (about 15–20 minutes).
- Remove carefully while warm and roll in extra toppings if desired (cinnamon sugar, nuts, coconut, etc.).
