Hungarian Chicken Paprikash (Chicken and Dumplings / Csirkepaprikás)

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs (1 kg) chicken (thighs & drumsticks)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tomato, chopped (or 1/2 cup canned tomatoes)
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp flour

Dumplings (Nokedli):

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2–3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt
