- 500 g flour
- 1 egg
- 250 ml warm milk
- 25 g fresh yeast or 7 g dry yeast
- 80 g sugar
- 80 g butter
- Pinch of salt
Brown butter filling:
- 150 g butter (browned until golden and nutty)
- 200 g ground poppy seeds
- 100 g sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 150 ml milk
- Lemon zest (optional)
- Raisins (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare dough by mixing yeast with warm milk and sugar.
- Add flour, egg, butter, and salt, then knead into a soft dough.
- Let rise for about 1 hour.
- For filling, brown the butter in a pan until golden and fragrant.
- Mix poppy seeds, sugar, vanilla sugar, milk, and browned butter into a thick paste.
- Roll out dough and spread filling evenly.
- Roll tightly into a strudel shape.
- Place on baking tray and let rest for 15–20 minutes.
- Bake at 180°C for 30–35 minutes until golden.
- Let cool, then slice and serve.
