Instructions:
- Sauté onions – Heat lard/oil in a large pot. Add onions and cook until golden brown.
- Add beef & garlic – Stir in beef cubes, browning lightly. Add garlic and stir.
- Paprika & caraway – Remove pot briefly from heat (to avoid burning paprika), stir in paprika and caraway. Mix well.
- Tomatoes & peppers – Add chopped tomatoes and bell pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Simmer – Pour in broth/water to cover. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer 1.5–2 hours, until beef is tender.
- Vegetables – Add carrots, potatoes, and parsnip. Simmer until vegetables are soft, about 30 minutes more.
- Season – Taste and adjust with salt and pepper.
To Serve:
- Traditionally enjoyed with csipetke (Hungarian pinched noodles), but crusty bread works perfectly.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
This dish is a Hungarian classic, warming and full of paprika flavor ❤️.
Would you like me to also include a quick csipetke noodle recipe so you can make it the traditional way?
