Celery has become a popular ingredient in green juices and smoothies. It is low in calories, contains water and fiber, and provides nutrients such as vitamin K, folate, and potassium.
You may have seen viral posts claiming that celery juice can “cleanse the blood” and detoxify the kidneys, liver, pancreas, and skin. However, there is no scientific evidence that celery juice detoxifies or cleanses these organs. Your liver and kidneys already perform the body’s natural waste-processing functions.
That doesn’t mean celery isn’t healthy—it can still be a nutritious addition to your diet.
