Hungarian Coffee Cake (Kávés Sütemény)

Ingredients:

Cake:

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 150 g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 120 ml milk
  • 100 ml strong brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 100 g butter (melted)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Coffee glaze (optional):

  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1–2 tbsp strong coffee

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add melted butter, milk, coffee, and vanilla. Mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients into the wet mixture and stir until smooth.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool completely.

Coffee Glaze (optional):

  1. Mix powdered sugar with strong coffee until smooth.
  2. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
