🇭🇺 Hungarian Creamy Pork Mushroom Paprikás (Sertés Gombapaprikás)

🧾 Ingredients

  • 500–700 g pork (shoulder or loin), cut into cubes
  • 300 g mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp oil or lard
  • 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 200 ml sour cream
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 200–300 ml water or broth
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pot and sauté onion until soft and golden.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in paprika quickly.
  3. Add pork and garlic, mix well, then cook until meat starts to brown.
  4. Pour in a little water or broth and simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Add mushrooms and cook another 15–20 minutes until everything is tender.
  6. Mix sour cream with flour until smooth, then stir into the pot.
  7. Cook 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  8. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Serve hot with nokedli, rice, or potatoes.
