Hungarian Plum Dumplings (Szilvásgombóc) – Don’t Lose This Recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg potatoes (boiled, peeled, and mashed)
  • 200–250 g flour (as needed)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 10–12 small plums (pitted)
  • 100 g butter
  • 150 g breadcrumbs
  • 2–3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Boil potatoes, peel, and mash them while warm. Let cool slightly.
  2. Mix mashed potatoes with flour, egg, and salt to form a soft dough.
  3. Roll out dough and cut into squares.
  4. Place a plum in each square and wrap into a ball.
  5. Boil dumplings in salted water until they float.
  6. In a pan, melt butter and toast breadcrumbs until golden.
  7. Roll cooked dumplings in the buttered breadcrumbs.
  8. Mix sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle on top.
  9. Serve warm.
