- 1 kg meat (pork, beef, or chicken)
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 2–3 tbsp oil or lard
- 2 tbsp sweet paprika
- Salt and black pepper
- 2–3 cloves garlic
- 1 green pepper (optional)
- 1 tomato (optional)
- 500–800 ml water or broth
Nokedli:
- 300 g flour
- 2 eggs
- 150 ml water
- Salt
Instructions:
- Cook onions in oil until soft and golden.
- Remove from heat, add paprika, stir quickly.
- Add meat and brown lightly.
- Add garlic, salt, pepper, and optional vegetables.
- Pour in water or broth and simmer until meat is tender and sauce thickens.
Nokedli:
- Mix flour, eggs, water, and salt into a thick batter.
- Drop small pieces into boiling salted water.
- Cook until they float, then drain.
Serve hot pörkölt over nokedli.
