
Ingredients:
- 1 large head of sour cabbage or fresh cabbage leaves
- 500 g ground pork
- 150 g rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2–3 cloves garlic
- 1 egg
- 1–2 tbsp sweet paprika
- Salt and black pepper
- 200 g smoked meat or smoked ribs
- 500 g sauerkraut (optional, for layering)
- 2 tbsp oil or lard
- 700–1000 ml water or broth
- Sour cream for serving

Sweet Hungarian Style
- Cook onion in oil until soft.
- Mix ground meat, rice, onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Fill cabbage leaves and roll tightly (these are the “betöltött” rolls).
- Layer sauerkraut and smoked meat in a large pot.
- Place stuffed cabbage rolls on top.
- Pour in water or broth until covered.
- Simmer slowly for 2–3 hours until everything is tender.
- Serve hot with sour cream and bread.
