Hungarian “Őrség Zöld Aranya” Cake – Don’t Lose This Recipe!

Ingredients:

Pistachio sponge:

  • 6 eggs
  • 150 g sugar
  • 120 g ground pistachios
  • 100 g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Cream filling:

  • 500 ml milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 100 g sugar
  • 40 g flour or cornstarch
  • 200 g butter
  • Vanilla extract

Green pistachio layer:

  • 100 g ground pistachios
  • 2–3 tbsp sugar
  • 100 ml milk

Instructions:

  1. Whisk eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add flour, pistachios, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Bake sponge at 180°C until golden, then cool.
  4. Cook milk, egg yolks, sugar, and flour until thick pudding forms.
  5. Let cream cool, then mix with butter and vanilla.
  6. Spread cream over sponge.
  7. Mix pistachios, sugar, and milk into a paste and spread on top.
  8. Chill in fridge for several hours before serving.
