Rétes (Hungarian Strudel)

Ingredients (serves 6–8):

  • 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 250 ml (1 cup) lukewarm water
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • 100 g (7 tbsp) melted butter or oil (for brushing)

Filling (example – apple):

  • 4–5 apples, peeled and grated
  • 100 g (½ cup) sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 50 g (½ cup) breadcrumbs
  • Optional: raisins
