Hungarian Lángos

📝 Ingredients:

  • 500 g (4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 7 g (1 packet) dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 300 ml (1¼ cups) warm water or milk
  • 2 tbsp oil (plus more for frying)

🥣 Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water (or milk), sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and oil, then knead into a soft dough.
  4. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan (medium-high heat).
  6. Divide the dough into small balls, then flatten each into a round shape (like a small pizza).
  7. Fry each piece in hot oil until golden brown on both sides (about 2–3 minutes per side).
  8. Drain on paper towels.

🧄 Traditional Toppings:

  • Garlic water or fresh garlic rubbed on top
  • Sour cream
  • Grated cheese
