Sweet Hungarian Style
- 300 g all-purpose flour
- 150 g butter, cold
- 100 g sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- A pinch of salt
For the filling:
- 1 kg apples, peeled and grated
- 100 g sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs (to absorb moisture)
For topping:
- Powdered sugar

Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking pan.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add butter and rub until crumbly.
- Add the egg and knead into a smooth dough. Divide into two parts.
- Roll out one half and place it into the baking pan.
- Mix grated apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Squeeze out excess juice if needed.
- Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the dough, then spread the apple filling evenly.
- Roll out the second half of dough and place it on top.
- Prick with a fork and bake for 35–40 minutes until golden.
- Let cool, dust with powdered sugar, slice, and serve.
