Hazelnut & Chocolate Hazelnut Cake

🧾 Ingredients

For the cake:

  • 1 cup (120 g) ground hazelnuts
  • 3/4 cup (90 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the chocolate hazelnut filling/frosting:

  • 200 g (7 oz) chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) powdered sugar
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) melted dark chocolate

Optional topping:

  • Chopped roasted hazelnuts 🌰
  • Chocolate shavings 🍫

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the cake

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a bowl, mix flour, ground hazelnuts, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add oil (or butter), milk, and vanilla.
  • Gradually fold in the dry ingredients.

2. Bake

  • Pour batter into a greased cake pan (20–22 cm / 8–9 inch).
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cool completely.

3. Make the frosting

  • Beat butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Add chocolate hazelnut spread and melted chocolate.
  • Mix until creamy and thick.

4. Assemble

  • Slice cake into 2 layers (optional).
  • Spread frosting between layers and over the top.
  • Decorate with hazelnuts and chocolate.

  • Chill the cake 30 minutes before serving for cleaner slices
