- 2 tbsp vegetable oil or lard
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 500 g (1 lb) beef chuck, cut into cubes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 large tomato, chopped (or 1 tbsp tomato paste)
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 6 cups beef broth or water
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
