Hungarian Butter Cookies (Linzer Karika)

Ingredients

  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g butter (softened)
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar or vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • powdered sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. Mix flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
  3. Add butter, egg yolks, and vanilla and knead into a smooth dough.
  4. Roll dough to about 1 cm thickness.
  5. Cut into ring or flower shapes with cookie cutters.
  6. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  7. Bake 12–15 minutes until lightly golden.
  8. Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
