Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 1½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup (75 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup (200 g) sugar
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
- ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120 ml) hot coffee (enhances chocolate flavor)
For the Chocolate Ganache:
- 1 cup (200 g) dark chocolate, chopped
- ¾ cup (180 ml) heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8- or 9-inch cake pan.
- Mix dry ingredients:
In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix wet ingredients:
In another bowl, beat sugar and eggs until light.
Add oil, milk, and vanilla. Mix well.
- Combine:
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture.
Stir in hot coffee until smooth (batter will be thin).
- Bake:
Pour into prepared pan and bake 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool completely.
- Make ganache:
Heat cream until just simmering. Pour over chopped chocolate.
Let sit 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Finish:
Pour ganache over cooled cake and spread evenly.
Let set before slicing.
