🛒 Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) Polish sausage (kielbasa), sliced
  • 3–4 medium potatoes, peeled & cubed
  • 2 cups sauerkraut, drained (rinse lightly if very sour)
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • ½ cup chicken broth or water
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 bay leaf (optional)
  • Salt (only if needed)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Add sliced sausage and brown lightly on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, sauté onion until soft.
  5. Add sauerkraut, paprika, pepper, bay leaf, and broth.
  6. Simmer 10 minutes.
  7. Add potatoes and sausage back to the pan.
  8. Cover and simmer 10–15 minutes, stirring gently.
  9. Taste and adjust seasoning.
