- Preheat oven to 450Β°F (230Β°C).
- Melt butter in a 9×9-inch (or similar) baking dish in the oven while it preheats β about 5 minutes. Watch it so it doesnβt burn!
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined (batter will be thick). Donβt overmix!
- Carefully remove the hot pan with melted butter from the oven.
- Pour the biscuit batter right into the pan β directly over the butter. Spread it evenly with a spatula. The butter will rise up around the edges and on top β thatβs what makes them heavenly! π
- Bake 20β25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- Let cool a few minutes, then cut into squares. Serve warm β no extra butter needed (but no oneβs stopping you π).

- Use salted butter for extra flavor or sprinkle a little flaky salt on top before baking.
- For Cheddar Garlic Biscuits, add 1 cup shredded cheddar and Β½ teaspoon garlic powder to the dry ingredients.
