  2. Add the sugar and mix well. Let it sit for 1–2 hours until the fruit releases juice.
  3. Start cooking on low heat. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  4. Let it simmer slowly for 1.5–3 hours until it becomes thick and jam-like.
  5. Skim off any foam during cooking for a cleaner texture.
  6. Test readiness: place a small spoonful on a cold plate—if it holds its shape, it’s ready.
  7. Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars immediately.
  8. Close tightly and turn jars upside down for a few minutes.
  9. Wrap in a blanket (száraz dunszt) and let them cool slowly overnight.
