🥕 Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen green peas
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, sliced (optional but traditional)
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 tsp sugar (important for authentic taste)
  • 1 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth (or water)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

🥄 Optional “slightly thickened” version

  • 1 tbsp flour + 2–3 tbsp water (slurry)
    or
  • 1 egg yolk + 2 tbsp sour cream (for creamy finish)
