🧾 Ingredients:

  • 700 g beef (cut into cubes)
  • 2 tbsp oil or lard
  • 2 large onions (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 2 potatoes (cubed)
  • 1 tomato (chopped) or 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 green pepper (chopped)
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • 700 ml beef broth or water

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a large pot. Add onions and cook until soft and golden.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in paprika to avoid burning.
  3. Add beef and mix well to coat with the onion-paprika base.
  4. Return to heat, add garlic, tomato, and green pepper. Cook for a few minutes.
  5. Pour in broth, season with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds.
  6. Cover and simmer for about 60 minutes.
  7. Add carrots and potatoes, then continue cooking for another 30–40 minutes until everything is tender.
