For the Cake:

- Β½ cup (120ml) boiling water
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 2 cups (400g) sugar
- ΒΎ cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup (226g) softened butter
- 4 large eggs (room temp)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Β½ tsp salt
Classic Coconut-Pecan Frosting:
- 1 cup (240ml) evaporated milk
- 1 cup (200g) sugar
- 3 large egg yolks
- Β½ cup (115g) butter
- 1 Β½ cups (130g) sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 Β½ cups (150g) chopped pecans
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
