Ingredients
- 2 tbsp lard or oil
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 2–3 bell peppers, sliced (preferably Hungarian wax peppers if available)
- 3–4 large tomatoes, chopped (or 1 can diced tomatoes)
- 10–12 oz (300–350 g) Hungarian sausage (kolbász) or smoked sausage, sliced
- 1–2 garlic cloves, minced (optional)
- 1 tsp hot paprika or chili flakes (optional)
- Salt & pepper to taste
Optional Add-ins:
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 tbsp sugar (to balance acidity)
- 2 eggs (scrambled in at the end – traditional variant)
