
Moist Orange Cake 🍊🍰
Ingredients (Makes 1 9-inch cake)
- 1¾ cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup (150 g) sugar
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup (120 ml) fresh orange juice
- Zest of 2 oranges
- ½ cup (120 ml) milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional Glaze:
- ½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp fresh orange juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven: 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round pan.
- Mix dry ingredients:
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. - Cream butter and sugar:
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. - Add orange flavor:
Mix in orange juice, zest, and vanilla extract. - Combine wet and dry:
Gradually fold in dry ingredients alternately with milk until smooth. - Bake:
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. - Cool & glaze (optional):
Let cake cool in the pan 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Mix powdered sugar and orange juice to make glaze, and drizzle over cooled cake.
