
Hungarian Stuffed Peppers (Töltött Paprika) – Recipe Only
Ingredients:
- 6–8 bell peppers, tops removed and seeded
- 500 g ground pork or pork & beef mix
- 1/2 cup rice, rinsed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
Sauce:
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
- 2 cups tomato passata or crushed tomatoes
- 2 cups water or broth
- Sugar, to taste
Instructions:
- Mix ground meat, rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Stuff peppers with meat mixture; do not overfill.
- Heat oil in a pot, stir in flour, then paprika.
- Add tomato passata and water, season lightly and add a pinch of sugar.
- Place stuffed peppers into sauce.
- Simmer gently, covered, 45–60 minutes until peppers and filling are cooked.
- Adjust seasoning and serve hot.
