Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes until tender, drain, and mash. Let cool slightly.
  2. Mix potatoes with flour, egg, butter, and salt to form a soft dough.
  3. Roll dough out and cut into squares.
  4. Place a plum in each square, sprinkle with a little sugar and cinnamon, and seal into a ball.
  5. Drop dumplings into boiling salted water; cook until they float (about 5–7 minutes).
  6. Meanwhile, toast breadcrumbs in butter until golden, then add sugar.
  7. Remove dumplings and roll them in the breadcrumb mixture.
  8. Serve warm with extra sugar or cinnamon if desired.
